Meet Dr. Tran

Baohuong Tran, D.O., M.S., FACOG is one of the rare physicians in the USA with extensive training in both modern medicine and traditional Chinese acupuncture.

Using this combined knowledge and experience, she helps people with complex, difficult-to-treat medical conditions as well as common medical problems including:

  • musculoskeletal pain
  • back pain
  • tendonitis
  • arthritis
  • headache
  • post-surgical pain
  • gastrointestinal problems (e.g., acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep disorders)

Dr. Baohuong Tran

A licensed and highly-trained acupuncturist, Dr. Tran is also a board-certified, experienced obstetrics and gynecology specialist. She offers a unique level of knowledge and clinical insights in using acupuncture therapy for a wide range of female conditions including:

  • irregular and/or painful menses
  • abnormal uterine bleeding
  • endometriosis
  • polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • menopausal symptoms

Dr. Tran is a certified acupuncture provider for Unite for HER, an organization dedicated to providing wellness therapies and support for women being treated for breast and ovarian cancer. Its mission is to educate, empower, and support women who are being treated for breast and ovarian cancer.

Dr. Tran attended University of Rochester, earning her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering there. She conducted research for several years in nephrology and oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and University of Rochester Medical Center.

In 2010, she received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed obstetrics and gynecology residency and served as Chief Resident at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

After receiving her acupuncture training at Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco, Dr. Tran apprenticed with skilled acupuncture physicians in Vietnam and with Dr. Thomas Burgoon.
